It is defined by the expression: where DT,R is the absorbed dose averaged over tissue or organ T, due to radiation R, wR is the radiation weighting factor and wT is the tissue weighting factor for tissue or organ T. The values for wT and wR are specified in Annex II. The unit for effective dose is the sievert (Sv)
